Madison adds new items to recycling program

The city of Madison added cardboard-sided cans and metal bottle caps to its recycling program, according to a release from the Streets Division.
“Cardboard sided cans are very common. You find them used for nuts, snacks, powdered beverages and baby formula,” said Madison recycling coordinator George Dreckmann.
“They require no special preparation. Just put the empty containers in your green cart.
Because bottle tops are too small to be dropped in a recycling cart on their own, residents must put them in a tin or steel can and pinch the top when it is partially full beforehand.
More information about recycling can be found on the Street Division’s website, including a video on bottle cap recycling, and those with questions can call the recycling office at 608-267-2626.
