Luella E. Virnig

MONONA- Luella E. Virnig, age 89, of Monona passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Karmenta Center. She was born on July 31, 1922, in Middleton, the daughter of George and Lillie (Binger) Becker.

Luella married Norbert Virnig on October 28, 1942. She worked at the Emporium, Bormans, and the South Towne Hallmark. Luella was an active and founding member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Luella is survived by daughters, Janeen (Skip) Pergande and Kathy (Ron) Siewert; grandchildren, Ginger (Andy Menon) Pergande and Dale Pergande; three great-grandchildren; gentleman friend, Gene McKenna, extended family, Dr. Gene and Jeanette Walsh; nephew, Lee (Barb) Becker; and niece, Lynne (Johnnie) Love. She is further survived by all of Norrie’s nieces and nephews and their families, and many friends. Luella was preceded in death by husband, Norrie and brother, Edwin Becker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield Street, Monona, at 11:30 a.m on Thursday, May 31, 2012, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a rosary at 6:45 p.m. and also at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
