Lorraine Hennessey

Dodgeville – V. Lorraine Hennessey, age 80, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2017.
Lorraine was born on the family farm outside of Mineral Point, WI on April 5, 1937, the daughter of Henry and Nina (Heins) Schweitzer. She graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1955 and worked as a dental assistant. In 1962 Lorraine married Patrick Hennessey, the love of her life. She worked beside him as a bookkeeper at Leo Hennessey & Sons Livestock until he sold the business in 1984. She then owned and operated Just Lorraine’s, a women’s boutique in Dodgeville until 1997.
Lorraine felt a strong sense of connection to the communities of Dodgeville and Mineral Point. She served as a board member of Upland Hills Health, helping to raise funds for the addition of the Nursing Rehab Center. She was a member of the finance committee at St Joseph’s Parish in Dodgeville and a member of the Dodgeville Kiwanis Club.
Lorraine enjoyed traveling. Over the years she visited every continent with the exception of Antarctica. She was always up for fun and adventure, and spent vacations near and far with family and friends. Lorraine had a special place in her heart for her second home in Manzanillo, Mexico. She had several dear friends there and spent many hours walking the beach, playing dominoes, enjoying the sunshine and had been known to drink a margarita or two. As an avid Badger Football fan Lorraine rarely missed a home game at Camp Randall and followed the team to many bowl games.
She is survived by her three daughters: Teresa (Rick) Hillman of East Lansing, MI, Marcia (Tim) Koenig of Waukesha and Heidi (Scott) Budzinski of Middleton; her six grandchildren Elizabeth Hillman, Patrick, Steven, and Allison Koenig, Andrew and Olivia Budzinski.
She was preceded in death by her husband Pat, her parents, her brothers Jim and Wayne Schweitzer, Pat’s parents Leo and Leone Hennessey and sister-in-law Marilyn Pittz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at St. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Monsignor Daniel Ganshert will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 a.m. on Thursday and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville.

The family would like to thank her caregiver Togi, Dr. Gary Grunow, the staff at Upland Hills Health Nursing & Rehab Center, the Upland Hills Hospice team, and the staff at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa for their excellent care.
