Local Food and Music Businesses Partner with Middle Schools on Instrument Drive

If you played an instrument in your youth, you’re likely to face a dilemma these days. You still own your old trumpet, clarinet or French horn, but no longer have a use for it. It remains tucked away in a remote closet, cold and lonely, desperate to see the outside world again one day.

Now’s your a chance to give that old instrument a new home. Three different Madison middle schools—Black Hawk, O’Keeffe and Sherman—are partnering with Heid Music and Food Fight Restaurant Group to organize an instrument drive to get used instruments into the three Madison middle schools. Called Assemble the Ensemble, the drive runs from April 27–May 11. The schools are particularly seeking wind, string and reed instruments.

, and will serve as drop off locations for donations. For those who donate instruments, the three Food Fight restaurants are also sweetening the deal with a little bonus: tax deductibility and a coupon for ten percent off at that location.

A group of Heid technicians with more than three hundred years of combined experience will evaluate the instruments, make repairs and replace parts in time to send them off for the 2014–15 school year.
