Local cheese makers finding success at national championships

A group of cheese makers from Waterloo were named champions for the third time at a recent dairy expo.

Crave Brothers Farmstead Classics Fresh Mozzarella took home first and second place awards at the World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Content in Madison on August 24, beating out over 1,400 entries from across North America.

Earlier this year, the company won first and second place honors at the 2017 American Cheese Society Competition and swept the fresh mozzarella category at the U.S. Cheese Championship competition.

The company attributes their success to the way they’re packed to retain freshness.
