Linda Margaret (Coe) Boyd

MADISON-Linda Margaret (Coe) Boyd, age 70, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 in Madison. She was born on Jan. 27, 1943, in Kalamazoo, Mich., the eldest daughter of Robert and Margaret (Pierson) Coe. Linda graduated from Graveraet High School in Marquette, Mich. in 1960. Linda married David R. Boyd on April 25, 1960, they had two children and later divorced in 1969. She earned a BS in Education from the UW Madison in 1974. Linda served as the Administrator at Lakeview Nursing Home in Beaver Dam for many years. She resided in Rio during this time. Later she moved to Madison to work for Meriter Hospital and the Wisconsin Medical Society. Her work with the Medical Society helped Wisconsin to become a national leader in the “age-in-place” movement and was instrumental in the creation of Eldercare, the precursor to today’s Care Wisconsin Program. Linda was a caring individual who was at her best when helping others deal with the challenges of being elderly and disabled. Linda’s passion in life was her Abyssinian cats.

Linda is survived by her son, David (Lisa) Boyd of Middleton; her daughter, Terra (Steven) Boyd-Howard of Fort Collins, Colo.; and her five grandsons, Ransom and Zane Boyd and Alexander, Kevin and Timothy Howard. She was particularly proud of the achievements of her grandsons and looked forward to the good they will each bring to the world during their lifetimes. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Harris of Escanaba, Mich. and Cherie Coe of Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, James Coe of Madison; as well as a niece and nephew, Jennifer Harris and Jon Harris of Escanaba, Mich.

Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Avenue, Middleton, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Helpfund which assists cat owners who are unable to pay for veterinarian services. Donations may be sent to the Cat Care Clinic, 322 Junction Rd., Madison, WI 53713.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
