Lilia M. Ballesteros

Middleton-Lilia M. Ballesteros, age 75, of Middleton, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Fountain Head Homes.

She was born on Feb. 11, 1942, in Laredo, TX., the daughter of Esteban Montiel and Eudelia (Herrera) Montiel. Lilia graduated from Martin High School in 1960 in Laredo, Tex. and later worked as a teacher. A very devout Catholic, she was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, volunteering at Centro Hispano.

Lilia enjoyed sewing, crafting, playing bingo, word search puzzles, cooking, walking, crocheting, spending time with family and going on soccer and football trips. She also was great gardener. In addition to being a teacher, Lilia worked as a nanny, caregiver, and day care provider. She had a passions for collecting angels, dolls and elephants and especially loved listening to Elvis.

Lilia is survived by her daughter, Sandie (Hugh) Bohne; son, O.J. Ballesteros; four grandchildren, Wesley Shelbrack, Dylan (Kylie) Shelbrack, SSGT. Nicholas (Bre) Bohne and Jacob (Heather) Bohne; great-grandchild, Carter Shelbrack; three sisters, Irene Gomez, Estela (Johnny) Alcayde and Emma (Jose) Robles; brother, Donaciano “Tito” (Rosa) Montiel; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Antonio Montiel; brother-in-law, Roberto Gomez; two nephews, Jose Robles Jr. and Esteban Montiel and a niece Ana Montiel.

A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., on Saturday, July 22, 2017. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
