Lester Loren Kelso

MADISON – Lester Kelso passed away peacefully at Karmenta Center on June 4, 2012. Les was born in Springfield, MO and served in WWII in 1943. After moving to Madison he married Betty Kelso (Johnson). They had one son, Terry Kelso. Les was an avid fisherman and enjoyed annual trips to Canada as well as Hayward, WI. He was always determined to catch “Lucille.” He enjoyed boating and bus trips to Ho-Chunk. He was a softball coach for many years and was an excellent bowler. His name was often highlighted in the papers for his high scores. He was a man of many smiles and jokes, and would light up an entire room with his charm. He had an amazing ability to help people and volunteered at Alanon for over a decade.
Les was preceded in death by his son Terry. His survivors are his wife Betty, 3 Grandchildren Tanisha (Elias), Matthew (Stacie), Ashley, and Susan (mother of his grandchildren). He also has 3 great-grandchildren Kailey, Isaac, and Ivan. A special thank you goes out to Karmenta and Agrace Hospice Care as well as their staff for their loving care. “Please go soar with the angels. We love you and will cherish all our memories.”
A funeral service will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, at 11:00AM on Thursday, June 7, 2012, with Chaplain Kurt Patrick presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00AM until the time of service on Thursday. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
