LeRoy Paul Schneller

LeRoy P. Schneller, age 91, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Pines Assisted Living in Prairie du Sac. He was born in the Troy Township on January 31, 1921 to the late John E. and Emma (Gasser) Schneller.

He married Hazel W. Sprecher on February 12, 1949 at Blackhawk United Brethren Church, she preceded him in death on September 11, 2003.

LeRoy joined the United States Army and served during WW2 and received both the Bronze and Silver Stars. After returning from the Army LeRoy attended the North Central College in Naperville, ILL. and later returned to the family farm in Blackhawk to farm with his brother Reuben for 38 years. He was active in the Sauk County Pork Producers, Sauk County NFO, and was past president of the Honey Creek Valley Dairy Co-Op. After retiring from the farm in 1986, LeRoy and Hazel focused their efforts on sharing their passion of flowers with others. LeRoy was a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Blackhawk and enjoyed singing in the choir for over 70 years.

He is survived by his 4 children, Peggy (Michael) Karras, Port Charlotte, FL. Chris (John Waffenschmidt) Schneller, Newport, Oregon. John Schneller, Dodgeville. Karl (Julane) Schneller, McFarland. an AFS brother, Joe (Ailsa) Tini. 4 grand children; Claire (Peter) Knoll, Joshua Schneller, Crystal Padley, and Grant (Megan) Padley. 2 great grandchildren; Elijah Rader, and Lily Padley. A brother, Calvin (Audrey) Schneller, Stoughton. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Reuben, and sisters, Alice, Ruth, and Lilah.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Blackhawk. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00pm until 7:00 pm at the HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 and one hour prior to the service at the church.
