Leonard R. Myer,

Leonard Reuben Myer, age 101, died peacefully on Saturday evening March 16th 2013 at the Vernon Manor, He was born on March 19, 1911 at the family farm on Lovaas ridge near Westby Wisconsin to Soren and Mattie (Natwick) Myer.
On a road trip to Iowa on December 30, 1935 he married his sweetheart, Sylvia Opal Rude. They were accompanied by their dear friends Hjalmer and Hildur Holte as witnesses.
Leonard and Sylvia farmed together until they retired to Westby in 1973. They enjoyed time together going out for lunch and drives, attending rummage sales to look for treasures and visiting with friends and family. Leonard spent time in his basement building wood projects for his family, enjoyed working in his yard and most of all loved spending time with his family.
In September of 2009, at the age of 98, Leonard decided that he no longer wanted to cook and clean for himself and chose to move to the Vernon Manor. He loved visiting with the employees at the Manor, quizzing them on where they lived, who they were and who their family was. He followed his favorite ball team, the Milwaukee Brewers and faithfully read the Lacrosse Tribune every day until the day he died.
He was a lifelong member of the Westby Coon Prairie Church and so appreciated the visits from the Pastors, Pam Schedivy and Sharon Nelson for communion.
Leonard is survived by one son, Fred (Deb) Myer of Albemarle, North Carolina: two daughters, Sandra (Garry) Brudos and Kay (Jim) Yanske both of rural Viroqua.
