Leland Blake Weeden

Leland Blake Weeden, age 88 of Richland Center passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Pine Valley Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Leland was born January 6, 1924 in Richland Center, WI the son of Linfred and Hazel (Hilleshiem) Weeden.

Upon graduation from Richland Center High School in 1943, Leland enlisted in the US Army and served during World War II. He was united in marriage to Janet L. Brolin on April 24, 1948 in Beloit, WI and soon returned to Richland Center to farm and to raise a family. After leaving the farm in 1968, Leland then worked for Keegan Implement until age 62 as a salesperson and as a supply/delivery driver. He continued the short distance delivery driving after retirement with the Pony Express Mail Service and finally with Vetesnik Power Sports. He also held a passion of interacting with customers during his annual rummage sales.

Survivors include; two sons: Larry (Cotilde) Weeden of Chula Vista, CA, Dennis Weeden of Basswood, WI, one daughter Judy Weeden of Richland Center, WI,  grandson Jason (Theresa) Weeden,  great-grandchildren: Jessica, Jacqueleen and Jason Weeden of Chula Vista, CA; brother Leo (Geneva) Weeden of Richland Center; sister-in-law Edith Weeden of Beloit, WI, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Leland was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lyle and Loren Weeden, sister Galena Lange and his wife Janet.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with Pastors Bill Busch and Craig Peach officiating.

Burial will be in the Richland Center Cemetery with military graveside rites being provided the Local Military Memorial Honors Unit. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.

The family suggests memorials be directed to Our House Assisted Living, Pine Valley Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, The Peace United Methodist Church, or a charity of your choice in memory of Leland.
