LeBron, Curry voted NBA All-Star Game captains

LeBron James and Stephen Curry were announced Thursday night as captains for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game.

The two earned the most votes for their respective conferences and will be picking teams for the Feb. 18 game at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Along with James, starters voted in from the Eastern Conference included Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid, Boston’s Kyrie Irving and Toronto’s DeMar DeRozan.

Houston’s James Harden, Golden State’s Kevin Durant and New Orleans teammates Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins joined Curry as starters voted in from the Western Conference.

The starters were selected by a combination of fan, media and player voting. The reserves, who will be selected in voting by NBA head coaches, will be announced Tuesday.

According to the NBA, James (2,638,294 fan votes) edged Antetokounmpo (2,530,211) as the top overall vote-getter among fans, while Curry (2,379,494) led all Western Conference players. Durant (2,238,406) and Irving (2,170,833) also had the highest fan totals in their respective position groups.

When selecting their teams, James and Curry must make their first four picks from the pool of remaining starters and then will select from the pool of reserves. James will get the first pick since he finished with the highest overall vote total.

The final NBA All-Star Game rosters will be revealed next Thursday.
