Law enforcement officers attend deadly-force training
Madison College hosts Force Science Institute for 95 statewide officers

MADISON, Wis. — Law enforcement officers from around the state focused on special training and how to handle deadly force situations on Monday.
Ninety-five officers started training with the Force Science Institute at Madison College.
The goal was to help law enforcement understand how officer-involved shootings unfold and the human dynamics behind them.
Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney said this is an opportunity to ensure their investigations are transparent and credible.
“This is the kind of training we need in our community on a regular basis to provide high-level exposure amongst our investigators to ensure credible investigations that leave our community believing that best practices are in place when we investigate these critical incidents,” Mahoney said.
There have been three deadly shootings involving Madison and Dane County law enforcement this year.
