LaVonne M. Rogers

COTTAGE GROVE-LaVonne M. Rogers, age 86, of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on July 11, 1926, in Madison, the daughter of Harry Ervin and Elsie Louise (Schwartz) Gink. She married Jack Rogers on May 11, 1946, in Madison. LaVonne was a graduate of East High School. She worked at Moseley’s Bookstore for 22 years and retired in 1977. Lavonne was a devout Christian and loved to read and search genealogy. LaVonne also loved being with family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Gary (Judy); daughter, Joette (David) Heagney; grandson, Brett (Samantha); great-grandsons, Triston and Noah; brother, Arnold Gink; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; sister, Alice.

Memorial services will be held at WILLERUP UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 414 West Water St., Cambridge, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, with Pastor Brian Cook presiding. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare. A special thank you to Agrace HospiceCare for their compassionate care given to LaVonne, and also to Abiding Shepherd Lutheran Church of Cottage Grove for their comfort and prayers.
