Larry E. Badtke

JANESVILLE— Larry E. Badtke, age 75, of Janesville, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Mercy Manor. He was born in Brussels, Door County, WI, on Nov. 20, 1936, the son of Marvin and Leona (Rupp) Badtke.
He moved was raised in the Tisch Mills and Two Rivers, WI areas where he attended St. John Lutheran School and graduated from Washington Heights High School, Two Rivers in 1955. Larry served in the US Army reserves and had attended the School of Aeronautics in Kansas City. He had worked for Miro Aluminum in Two Rivers for 4 years prior to moving to Janesville where he had been employed by General Motors for over 42 years before retiring in 2001. He also worked 11 seasons for El-Ra Bowl. Larry married Cynthia L. Trewyn on Sept. 14, 1984, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Janesville. He was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, UAW Local 95, and a volunteer for Special Olympics. He loved traveling throughout the US. He made it to 42 states following NASCAR, the Railroad, and visiting friends. Larry was an avid bowler, played fast pitch softball and had various hobbies including collecting matchbooks, stamps and old papers.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; 2 children, Michael (Ashlei) Badtke and Alicia (Nick Branz) Badtke both of Janesville; a grandson, Nathan with a second grandson due in November; as well as his special friend, Jerry Johannes and family of Denver, CO; and his loving pet, Pandora. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012, at ST. PAUL’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Janesville, with Rev. Daniel Decker officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, Janesville. Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics.
