A La Crosse man has been charged with homicide for delivering a deadly dose of heroin to a Trempealeau County man.

The criminal complaint says 27-year-old Jered Hellerud sold the drugs to Robert Gordon last August.

Gordon was found lying on the floor of his home with blood in his nose and vomit in his mouth. Witnesses, including Hellerud’s girlfriend Tasha Kempfer who has been convicted of the same crime, saw the deal.

The autopsy found Gordon died from a combination of drugs. In the criminal complaint, the medical examiner who performed the autopsy says it’s highly suggestive that the cause of death was a result of heroin use.

Hellerud is charged with first degree reckless homicide by delivering drugs. La Crosse Co. Judge Elliot Levine released him on a $10,000 signature bond.
