Kenneth L. Kloster

MADISON-Kenneth L. Kloster, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, with his family by his side.
He was born on May 20, 1937, in Omro to George and Angie Kloster. The family moved to Sun Prairie in 1941 so that George could work in the Kloster Bakery with his brother, Nick. Kenny’s playground while growing up was Angell Park and the back alleys of Sun Prairie. He graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1955.
In 1956, Kenny met Mary Vitcenda from Hillsboro, his “sweetie” and wife to be, at the Sun Prairie Corn Festival. They were married on October 24, 1959, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Madison. After they returned from their honeymoon in New Orleans, they found an apartment on Lake Mendota and enjoyed six years there. Kenny said he had a new bride, a new boat, and later, a new daughter. He worked for the State of Wisconsin for 28 years at Mendota Hospital retiring when he was 57. Kenny always said that he was going to write a book about his many stories from working there. He loved to tell stories and people loved to listen.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Kathleen (Vince) Johnson of Little Canada, Minn.; three grandchildren, Brooke, Reid, and Brenna; sister, Mary Jo (Dick) Motl of Marshall; and brother, James (Aileen) Kloster of Sun Prairie.
