Kenneth “Ken” Ebbe

Ken Ebbe, age 68, of Middleton passed away on July 8, 2017 at UW-Madison Hospital after courageously battling medical complications in his fight against MDS.

He was born on November 22, 1948 to Richard and Shirley Ebbe of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. He married Kathy Fahl on April 26, 1969. He worked in computer sciences for UW- Madison up until his retirement.

Ken’s goal in life was to make family and friends laugh and always ensure that everyone was having a good time! He enjoyed following numerous sports teams such as the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. He also enjoyed Nascar racing and participating in fantasy sports. Ken was a hunter, golfer, bowler and fisherman. He enjoyed collecting brewmania and antiquing. Ken traveled the country and beyond. He was a fun-loving husband, supportive father, responsible big brother, and proud grandpa. He was a dedicated man involved in numerous organizations such as SHARE, 44th General Hospital Army Reserve Unit, Knights of Columbus, and served on the Board of Directors for UW Employees, Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Ebbe (Middleton), two daughters Jennifer Ebbe Handy (Troy)- Aurora, CO and Jodi Adler (David)- Janesville, WI, 5 granddaughters (Lauren, Katelyn, Emery, Finley and Morgan) and one grandson (Ben). He is also survived by his siblings Paul Ebbe (Jane Graff)- Delafield, WI, Carolyn Holberg (Jeff)- Moorcroft, WY, and John Ebbe- Wisconsin Rapids, WI. He also had numerous nieces and nephews and countless faithful friends.

Throughout Ken’s medical journey he and his family felt so much love and support, from both far and near, and we are forever grateful. We also want to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to the UW Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Team, the TLC Department, and the doctors and nurses on the B6/6 Floor. They all helped Ken fight his battle with bravery and dignity.

We will be hosting a Celebration of Life to honor Ken from 4-7pm on Saturday, July 15th at Paul’s Neighborhood Bar, 2401 Parmenter St., Middleton, WI 53562, to share memories, laugh, hug, and toast to Ken! Throughout his life Ken always had his partner in crime, nurse, cheerleader and fun-loving wife, Kathy, faithfully by his side. Their dream was to go to Hawaii after “all of this was over”. Although this was not the outcome we had hoped for, the pain is over and the healing can begin.
