Kathleen Barta

MADISON-Kathleen Barta, age 84, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at St. Mary’s Care Center. She was born on Oct. 27, 1928, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Daniel and Ruth (Zoeller) Hanley. After graduating from high school, Kathleen attended Mount Mary College receiving a degree in Education. She married on Aug. 18, 1951. Together, they raised seven children. In her spare time, Kathleen enjoyed playing cards, particularly bridge.

Kathleen is survived by her children, Mary Jensen, Joan (Harry) Fischer, Bob (Dalee) Barta, Patty (Tom) Yentz, Jim (Anne) Barta, Tom (Lois) Barta, and Jane (Dan) Rach; grandchildren, Monica, Sara, Bob, Bonnie, Kim, Megan, Katie, Anne, Karl, Nick, Camaron, Logan, and John; three great-grandchildren, Chace, Jonah, and Jacob; three brothers, Dave Hanley, Bob (Elaine) Hanley, and Dan (Mary Jo) Hanley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Jim and John; and grandchild, Joseph.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Kathleen will be celebrated at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Dennis Catholic Church. On-line condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
