K-9 retires after nearly a decade of service
Lafayette County Sheriff's Office

After nearly 10 years of faithful duty, a Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office K-9 is retiring. K-9 Cody has been known for his service to the Sheriff’s Office and the Lafayette citizens since 2009. Cody started his career with Deputy Fred Norder and will finish with current partner of three years, Detective Paul Klang.

Cody has an impressive resume including narcotics detection, human tracking, and personal protection for his partners.

Health issues over the past year have limited Cody’s ability to serve at his greatest potential, leading him to his retirement. He is the second K-9 to serve the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office since the program kicked off in 2002.

After announcing that Cody needed a good retirement home, officials with the Madison Police Department said they were happy to announce that they have found him a home.
