Joyce Loose

MADISON – Joyce Loose, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison. She was born on Sept. 13, 1923, on the family farm north of Briggsville, Wis., the youngest of nine children, to Mary Joyce and Patrick Slowey. She had three brothers, Matthew, Patrick and Harold and five sisters, Stacia, Margaret, Irene, Marie and Virginia. Her grandfather, James Slowey came from Ireland.
Joyce married Milton Loose in March of 1943. Milton died very unexpectedly on Feb. 17, 1955, of a cerebral hemorrhage at age 32. Raising four young children on her own was Joyce’s real-life mission.

Joyce worked as secretary at the Westfield High School for 12 years. Then she left Westfield and moved to Madison to be near her family. She worked at Vertex, retiring at age 66. Then she worked at Gimbles, Younkers, Manchesters, and JC Penney’s where she retired when she was age 88.
Joyce loved celebrating every birthday and holiday with her whole family. Family time was the best time for her, especially when they could all be together. She so loved her family and was proud of each and every one. Her family was her life.

Joyce leaves a legacy of faith and deep love of family, along with her smile that will never be forgotten…the stories that will be shared time and again…and the love that will be treasured forever.
She left her earthly mission to begin her Heavenly journey with the Lord along with loved ones who have passed before her. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend gratitude to SSM St. Mary’s Care Center doctors, nurses and all the staff and the staff of SSM HospiceCare for their loving care and compassion.
A mother’s love is something that no one can explain.
It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain.
It is endless and unselfish and enduring, come what may,
For nothing can destroy it or take that love away.
Sleep on Mother and take your rest.
We love you, but God loved you best.
