Josephine Joan Ryan

Josephine Joan Ryan (known as “Johnnie”), age 88, of Boca Raton, FL and formerly of Janesville, died on Friday, March 25, 2016, a Boca Raton Regional Hospital. She was born in Janesville on Nov. 24, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Bertha (Knutson) Johnson. She graduated from MacMurray College and worked in Minneapolis before returning to Janesville. She married William J. Ryan on Dec. 29, 1951, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 2011. Johnnie served and volunteered on many community boards and organizations, and was a member of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Ryan, and Tina (Joseph) Pregont; son, Wills (Judy) Ryan; 13 grandchildren: Kelly (Brien) Meyer, Becky (Brandon) Hecht, Jennifer Wright, Patrick (Katherine) Ryan, Katherine Wright, Rachel (Daniel) Andres, Joseph Pregont, Caitlin (Lee) Henderson, Michael Pregont, Emily Ryan, Kimberly Ryan, Caroline Ryan and Richard Ryan; and 6 great-grandchildren: Ryan Hecht, Adelyn Hecht, Caleb Meyer, Zachary Meyer, Charlotte Meyer and Spencer Ryan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Richard (Amy) Ryan; and brother, Joseph Johnson.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH with Msgr. Donn Heiar officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the CHURCH. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
