Jorgensen heads to Olympics
Former Badgers star competing in London
MADISON, Wis. — Former Badgers track and cross country star Gwen Jorgensen will compete on the U.S. Olympic team in London in the triathalon.
When Jorgensen was in high school, she was a really good swimmer, and that training will come in handy.
The last time many people saw her, Jorgensen was winning the 2010 Crazylegs Classic at Camp Randall Stadium.
Back then, she was just starting to compete in triathlons.
Now, Jorgensen said she’s had a pretty quick learning curve in a short period of time.
“It’s a bit overwhelming to go from a no name to someone people know,” Jorgensen said. “Last year, no one knew who I was, and I would go to races, and no one would be looking out for me. Now, everyone knows my strengths and weaknesses and everything, and it’s different. And it’s something I am trying to embrace and just become a part of. And, its exciting at the same time.”
