John Rayho

MARSHALL- John Rayho, age 66, of Marshall, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, March 8, 2013. He was born on April 15, 1946, in St. Louis, MO, the son of CMSgt. John F. and Mitzi (Fairless) Rayho. After traveling around North America as a military brat, John graduated from LaFollette High School in 1965. After graduation he attended trade school for a career as an HVAC technician, a subject which he later taught at Madison Area Technical College. John was united in marriage to Marcia McNown. He loved learning about history and enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles. John was very devoted to his family and was a proud supporter of the USO.

John is survived by his children, Kara (Hossam) Shalaby, Dawn, Elizabeth (John) Thalgott, Donna, Sarabeth (Evan) Ackerman and John IV; grandchildren, Alexandra, Amir, Basem and Yousef; mother, Mitzi; brother, Scott (Linda); and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 40 years, Marcia; and his father, John.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, with the Rev. Kerri Parker presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service on Tuesday. Memorials may be made in John’s name to the USO, or the UW Carbone Cancer Center. The family appreciates the dedication and service of his caregivers, including Agrace HospiceCare, and support of neighbors and friends. John will be dearly missed.
