John Probst retiring from MSCR

Madison Sports and Community Recreation Sports Supervisor John Probst is retiring Friday after 30 years on the job.

Probst has administered 900 sports league teams with over 10,000 participants who play basketball, volleyball, softball and more recently, kickball. He’s also the supervisor of the MSCR Aquatics program.

“A lot of the time, I’ve spent training officals and putting leagues together, and I like solving those puzzles and I enjoy our people so much,” Probst said.

“Even though it’s just running leagues every day is different because the people are different and they change – they come and go, they grow up with me and it’s just- it’s a labor of love, it really is.”
