John Phillip Byington

John Phillip Byington passed away peacefully, at the age of 59, on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, way too soon but is now with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. John was born on July 12, 1963, and was raised by his parents, Richard and Lorraine (Kiesow) Byjngton.

John graduated from La Follette High School in 1981. He began his career at Wisconsin RV World as a tech and body repairman and then worked at Gates Auto Body Truck Shop. After a few years, John found his home at Custom RV Service where he was able to express his artistic gift of custom painting and repairing recreational vehicles over the past 20 years. John was more than an employee at Custom RV Service, he was family.

John truly lived life filled through simple pleasures, hanging out with friends, listening to rock, riding ATV’s, working on vehicles, bowling, dog-sitting, and racing stock-cars. John was always the star of the show, his presence was always known with his positive attitude and his one-line jokes always made others smile. He was a generous son, brother, father, and friend to many and will be missed dearly.

John is survived by his son, Jacob Byington of Madison; sister, Diane Byington of Sayner; brother, Alan (Lisa) Byington of Sun Prairie; and niece and nephew, Mykayla and Seth.

Funeral services will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 734 Holy Cross Way, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, with the Rev. Mark Bartels officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
