John A. Martin

LODI-John A. Martin Jr., age 69, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013. He was born on Oct. 4, 1943, in Oak Park, Ill., the son of John A. Martin Sr. and Elizabeth “Bette” Conroyd. He married Susan Casey on Nov. 16, 2005. John worked at AT&T until his retirement. He loved fishing, playing pogo, walking his dog, Andy, working in the yard, and spending time with family and friends. John was a lifetime member of the Chessman’s Club.

John is survived by his wife, Susan; children, John III (Mary Anne) Martin, Dena Martin, David (Judith) Martin, Brian McEvoy, Benjamin (Kim) Casey, and Ryan (Kate) Casey; former wife, Phyllis Martin; grandchildren, Margaret, John III, Jacob, Kirsten, Logan, Jonathan, Jesalyn, and Jordan; sister, Barbara Ann Martin; brothers, James, Richard (Faye), Robert (Jeanie); nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at HAMRE GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 157 S. Main St., Lodi, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013. Burial will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
