Jean H. Smith

Jean H. Smith, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at her home. She was born in Milwaukee to the late Arthur O. and Louise C. (Faragher) Hinz. She graduated from UW-Madison where she majored in English and French and minored in Psychology and also pursued post-graduate studies in Kentucky at the University of Louisville and at Georgetown University. Jean moved to Janesville in 1963 and was an English Teacher at Craig High School and later at Parker High School, retiring in 1986. She was a past member of JEA, JURTA, WEAC, the Elk’s Club, and the Women’s Club of Janesville

She is survived by her son, Michael (Cynthia) Smith of Chicago and granddaughter, Zoe Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY with Rev. Gary Stillwell officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME.
