Janet Josvai

Janet Josvai passed away in her sleep on October 4, 2022, at the age of 79. She held a master’s degree in Library Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and had an undergraduate degree from UW Stevens Point in Philosophy. I have many fond memories of my brother Sam and I playing monopoly in the room next door as she was attending classes. She always told us to be quiet and behave, which we rarely did.
She was also an emeritus staff member at the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at the UW, where she was the Financial Administrator for Community and Alumni Relations. In this capacity she helped to bring in speakers such as Jane Goodall and other notable individuals related to the annual Earth Day events. A coworker of hers once had a desk plaque made that read, ” Janet Josvai Be All & End All Manager” Evidently the buck stopped with mom!
Outside of work she enjoyed reading mystery books, researching family genealogy, and creating designs for her Etsy online store. Her favorite TV show was Jeopardy, and I will always think of her at 4:30 because of this. None of these however compared to her absolute favorite thing in the world, which was spending time with her family. Words cannot express how much pride she felt for her sons Sam and Jason as well as her grandkids Mitchell and Mason.
I believe that mom is someplace beautiful, laughing and playing with our dogs Henry, Puckey and Blackie as well as our cats Whiskers, Tigger and Barney. I know that I too will see her again one day at the blue house we grew up in, until then she will be deeply missed. We love you mom.
Survived by her 2 sons Samuel Josvai and Jason Josvai and 2 grandsons Mitchell Josvai and Mason Josvai. She was preceded in death by her parents Michael Komp and Dorothy Wiringer.
