Janet & Allen Schmidt

Janet Schmidt, age 82 of Lake Delton, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, Wisconsin with her beloved husband, Allen and loving family by her side. She was born March 2, 1935 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the daughter of Elroy and Lorraine (Jordan) Kohlweiss.

Janet was baptized and confirmed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from North Division High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She spent many years working at the family business, Dells Camping Resort. Janet also worked for many years at Red Wagon as a waitress/hostess and for Mr. Pancake as a hostess in Lake Delton, Wisconsin. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Janet was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Allen Schmidt, age 84 of Lake Delton, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg with his loving family by his side. He was born August 29, 1932 in Milwaukee, the son of Richard and Clara (Miller) Schmidt.

Al was baptized and confirmed at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, After graduation, Al went to work as a mechanic at the P.J. Kaufman Studebaker Dealer in Milwaukee from 1950-1952. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. While in the service he married his neighbor, Janet Kohlweiss on September 5, 1953 in Milwaukee. After discharge from the service, Al went back to work at P.J. Kaufman Co.

Al worked for A.F. Motors in Adams, Wisconsin for over 25 years as a Service Manager until 1997 when he had a very serious automobile accident and had to retire due to his injuries. He enjoyed wood working.

Al also served his Lord at Berea Lutheran Church in Milwaukee for many years as Elder. After moving to the Dells, he served at Immanuel Lutheran Church (Adams, Wisconsin) for over 25 years as Elder and President of the congregation. After which they transferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. Al was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great-grand father. Al and Janet purchased the Dells Camping Resort in Wisconsin Dells in 1971. They operated the campground until 1990. Al and Janet then retired to Lake Delton, Wisconsin.

Funeral services for Janet and Allen will be held Monday, August 7, 2017 at 4:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin with Reverend Matt Gehrke officiating. Burial will be at Newport Lutheran Church Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Allen and Janet are survived by four children; Nancy (Paul) Gregerson, Wisconsin Dells, Robert (Heidi) Schmidt, Pecatonica, Illinois, Debra (Craig) Meyer, Baraboo, and Richard, McFarland.

They are further survived by their grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Kelly (Bjorn) Thompson and their children, Colton and Avery; Paul (Heather) Poker and their children Tyler, Peyton, and Taytum; Peter Poker; Derek (Emily) Schmidt and their children, Brody, Gracin and Cade; Kaila Schmidt; Dustin (Becky) Meyer and their daughter, Livia; Ryan (Sarah) Smith and their son, Reid; Rachel (Matt) Kaminski and their daughter, Kubly; Olivia, Matthew and Camille Schmidt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or Agrace Hospice would be appreciated.
