Janesville school superintendent announces retirement in June 2017

Janesville Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen Schulte announced Thursday she plans to retire next year.

Schulte said she plans to retire when her contact ends on June 30, 2017.

Schulte served 15 years in the district, and has been the district administrator since 2009, according to a release.

“I have been privileged to spend so many years working in the Janesville schools, surrounded by a great team of colleagues,” Schulte said in the release. “We have accomplished so much over the years here, and when reflecting upon my career and my personal goals, the time is right to begin this transition.”

Schulte said she announced her retirement early to give the board and district enough time to find a replacement.

School Board President Kevin Murray said the district will start the process of selecting a new superintendent by hiring an outside firm to conduct a search.
