James W. Schwenn

DANE – James W. “Jim” Schwenn, a lifelong resident of Dane, died at his home on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. He was born on June 6, 1928, the son of Frank and Jennie (Peterson) Schwenn.

Jim married Darlene Koehler on June 24, 1962. She preceded him in death on November 19, 1994. He was a member of Dane Immanuel United Church of Christ, Army Co. “C” Seventh Engineer Battalion, and a 50 year member of Local 464. He worked at various canning factories, drove milk truck and was a union construction laborer when he retired. Jim (known to some as “The Boss” )had a variety of passions including euchre, deer hunting, horse pulls, gardening (especially his huge pumpkins), Budweiser, and spending time with his grandchildren. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and would always speak his mind. Everyone that met him would fall in love with his blue eyes and charming sense of humor.

Jim is survived by his two daughters, Joni Schwenn of Dane, and Kim (Rick) Peters of Sauk City; three loving grandchildren, Rich (Brittney Uecker) Peters of Ixonia, Nicole Peters of Janesville, and Jordan Peters of Sauk City; his in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene; and brother, Roland.

Funeral services will be held at DANE IMMANUEL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 300 N. Military Rd.,Dane, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012, With Rev. Denise Cole officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial with military rites will be in the church cemetery.

The family wishes to thank all his friends who visited and called, and the medical and home health team who provided special care.
