James Smith

OREGON-James Smith, age 71, of Oregon passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on August 27, 1940, the son of James and Grace (Sader) Smith.

James married Shirley Dubuque in 1966. He graduated from West High School and then attended the School of Electronics in Madison for his future job. James worked for Oscar Meyer and AT&T Telephone Company for 40 years as a switchman retiring at the age of 66. He enjoyed training his dogs, hunting, fishing, going to the farmer markets around the Madison area, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

James is survived by his wife, daughters, Barbara Ann (Bart Brendemuehl) Smith and Keri Lynn Smith; grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, Payton, and a grandson along the way; brother, Richard A. (Bonnie) Smith; nephews, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Smith, Michael (Sandra) Smith, and Peter (Emily) Smith; and many other cousins, friends, and many pets. He was preceded in death by his parents and uncle, Antone Smith.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park Street, Oregon at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, and also at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
