James J. Germann

FITCHBURG / MADISON-James J. Germann, age 83, of Fitchburg, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Oregon Manor. He was born on July 5, 1929, in Buffalo, N.Y., the son of Maxwell and Cornelia (Frank) Germann. James grew up in Buffalo. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. James went to Milwaukee on leave to attend a service member dance where he met the love of his life, June Artin, and they were married on May 28, 1955, in Milwaukee. After discharge, he moved to Milwaukee and was employed with ADT in 1968, was transferred to Madison, and retired from ADT in 1991. Jim liked to camp, fish, hunt, work in his yard, and travel with his “Friendship Force”. Most of all, he especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

James is survived by his wife of 57 years, June; daughter, Lynne (Ronald) Kong of Oregon; son, Jeff (Linda) Germann of Stoughton; three grandchildren, Erin, Sam, and Brad; brother, Alan (Kathy) Germann of Buffalo; and brothers-in-law, Ray and Guy . He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Max; sisters, Judy, Grace, and Lois (Carl) Weber.

Funeral services will be held at MIDVALE COMMUNITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4329 Tokay Boulevard, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, with the Rev. Katie Baardseth presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens, 3054 Cty. Rd. BB, Madison, with military honors being conducted. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 Midvale Community Lutheran Church, or Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy, Fitchburg, WI 53711.
