James E. Sauer, Sr.

James E. Sauer, Sr., age 75, of Lake Mills and formerly of Janesville, died on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Willowbrook Nursing Home, Lake Mills.

He was born in Iowa on July 23, 1941, the son of Ewald and Dorothy Sauer. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, and had been employed by R&M Enterprise in Nebraska. He married Sheryl Elaney Hamlin in Council Bluffs, IA and later married Nancy Smerowski and she preceded him in death.

He is survived by his son, James (Suzanne) Sauer, Jr. of Janesville; daughters, Mary Sauer and Patty Sauer both of Nebraska; step son, David Lakner of Nebraska; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY with Rev. Jerry Conway officiating. Interment will be in Iowa.
