IRONMAN Triathlon to bring street closures to Madison on Sunday
MADISON, Wis. — The IRONMAN triathlon returns to Madison Sunday, with competitors swimming in Lake Monona, biking around Dane County and running downtown.
While racers will be keeping their pace, hydration and energy levels in mind, drivers will need to keep road closures in mind to avoid any delays. The race kicks off at 6:45 a.m. and lasts all day.
The bicycling portion of the race will last from about 7:30 a.m. to about 5:30 p.m., during that time the right lane of northbound John Nolen Drive will close from East Lakeside Street to Monona Terrace. East Lakeside Street will be closed east of John Nolen Drive, and Olin-Turville Court will also be shut down.
East Rusk Avenue will close from the Alliant Energy Center driveway to Rimrock Road. The Rimrock Road ramps to and from the Beltline Highway will be closed along with Badger Road west of Rimrock Road.
For the running portion of the race, roads along the route will be closed from about 11 a.m. to midnight. A map of the closures, outlined in black, can be viewed below
