Irene Marjory Feltz

MADISON-Irene Marjory (Krage) Feltz, age 95, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at Saint Claire Meadows in Baraboo.

She was born on Jan. 26, 1921, the daughter of William and Sophia Krage in Winona County, Minn. Irene graduated from Winona High School in 1938 and went to Winona State College. She married Joseph J. Feltz on Nov. 14, 1942. After they were married, they spent three years in Florida, after he completed his service to his country, they moved to Winona in 1945, and then moved to Madison in 1953. Together, they raised their family in Madison and were charter members of St. Dennis Catholic Church. She cooked for many different restaurants on the East Side of Madison and retired at the age of 75.

Irene is survived by five children, Jorene Murray Brasda (Mike) of Poynette, Sandra Hayes of Madison, Joseph “Chip” (Jana) of Madison, Andrew (Annette) of Madison and Mary (Vincent) Nemec of Madison; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Eleanor Stockum of Dayton, Ohio and Joanne (Jack) Harris of Oxnard, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph on Oct. 5, 1979; infant son, Paul William; brothers, William Krage and Tom Krage; sisters, Lucille Burke, Harriet Conway and Rosella Theis; and son-in-law, James Murray.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding.

Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. A special thank you to the staff of Saint Claire Meadows for their compassionate and excellent care of our mom.
