Internet search for rental leads to sexual assault

MADISON, Wis. — A Middleton woman told police she was groped by a man she contacted through Craigslist during her search to find a room to rent.
The 26-year-old woman said she responded to a posting on Craigslist and started texting the man who was looking for a renter.
She told police she talked with the 39-year-old man on the phone and complied with the man’s request to send him a picture.
The woman brought a friend with her when she met the man at a restaurant and told police she decided to pursue the rental.
She went to the man’s home in the 400 block of Blackbird Lane Thursday night and fled after the man groped her, according to police.
Esmeregildo “Tito” Armendarez III was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree sexual assault.
