In the 608: Help celebrate local crossing guard’s birthday
PRAIRIE DU SAC, Wis. – The Sauk County community is coming together to honor a now retired crossing guard for his positivity on the job.
We featured Ed Burns just about a year ago when he celebrated fifteen years as a crossing guard in the Sauk Prairie School District. He recently had to step away from his duties.
Burns retired from law enforcement and moved here with his wife back in 2007. He loves living a busy life and working all hours of the day and night.
He’s also spent time volunteering with the Red Cross and U.S. Coast guard auxiliary.
Ed told News 3 Now This Morning’s Josh Spreiter he wouldn’t want his retirement any other way, but now that he’s stepping away from this corner at Grand and Park Avenues in Prairie Du Sac, the community is looking to give back to him in a special way for his birthday.
Grand Avenue Elementary is inviting folks to send birthday cards to Ed. He turns 81 on Thursday, December 29th.
The school says Ed deserves all the love on his birthday after sharing so much positivity and making a difference in their community for so long.
Here’s the address:
Grand Avenue School c/o Ed Burnes
225 Grand Avenue
Prairie Du Sac, WI 53578
The school asks that you get your cards into them by the 28th, so that they can deliver the messages to him on his birthday on the 29th.
