Ila Mae Grady

Verona-Ila Mae Grady “Ma Grady”, age 89, passed away on March 8, 2013 surrounded by her family after a brief illness.
She was born on June 1, 1923 in Exeter Township, the daughter of Duane and Mildred (Gould) Lewis. Mae married Donald Grady on January 19, 1945 in Verona. She and Don farmed in the Verona area for many years. After farming she worked at the Dane County Home (Badger Prairie) assisting patients.
Mae was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church. She and Don enjoyed camping, traveling and their grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting and was an active card player.
She is survived by her children: Joseph (Sandy) of Lodi, Amber (Bob) Fluckiger of Oregon, Jenni (Carl) Syftestad of Verona and Karen (Jock Brendemuehl) Pautzke of Verona; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings: Don Lewis, George, Elden, Rolland and Sheldon Taylor, Carol Estill, and Ilene Ramsey; a step-sister, Helene Meythaler and a special cousin Miriam Blumer; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don in 1992, son, Donovan in 2008 and sisters, Jean and Bette.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Ryan Funeral Home, Verona Chapel, 220 Enterprise Drive, with Fr. William Vernon presiding. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the funeral home and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family wishes to thank her dear friends for their many phone calls. They used the old fashion way-picked up the phone and called. Also all at the Sugar Creek Senior Apartments and Residence.
