Wisconsin DNR says hunters should review safety guidelines as hunting season approaches
MADISON, Wis. (WKBT) — Saturday is the first day of archery and crossbow season, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding deer hunters that safety is a part of the fun.
Outdoor enthusiasts should remember firearm safety rules, like treating every bow as if it is loaded, before heading out to hunt.
Tree stands are also the number one cause of injury to hunters, but these accidents can be avoided.
“There’s lots of incidents that can happen or things that you can’t predict that would happen and having that safety harness would make it so you don’t fall all the way to the ground,” said Wisconsin DNR recreation warden Peter Wetzel.
Archery and crossbow season runs through Jan. 8.
