Veterans take annual trip to Washington, D.C. on Freedom Honor Flight

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – 97 veterans from western Wisconsin spent the day in Washington, D.C. thanks to the Freedom Honor Flight.

The flight took off early Saturday morning from the La Crosse Airport.

While in D.C., the veterans are touring war memorials and Arlington National Cemetery.

Korean War Veteran Duane Moore says he’s looking forward to the trip.

“This is the 26th trip out of La Crosse and everybody that I’ve met that’s taken the first 25 have been very impressed with it,” said Moore.

The veterans return Saturday night to a ‘welcome home’ ceremony, complete with fireworks and the Westby High School Marching Band.
