Sparta superintendent resigns after harassment investigation
SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) — Sparta School District Superintendent Dr. Amy Van Deuren has resigned from her position, according to an official school district press release.
Van Deuren submitted the letter of resignation to the school district’s Board of Education. The board will act on that resignation when it meets later this month.
The resignation comes after an investigation found that Van Deuren repeatedly violated the district’s anti-bullying and anti-harassment policies. That investigation can be found here.
According to the release, “Both the District and Dr. Van Deuren acknowledge that no unlawful harassment occurred. In addition, although the Board and Dr. Van Deuren are not in agreement concerning each of the investigator’s findings, both sides would like to see the District move forward in a positive direction.”
