Fort McCoy unveils memorial for fallen Wisconsin State Patrol officers

TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) — Fort McCoy unveiled a new memorial for fallen Wisconsin State Patrol officers on Friday.

State patrol officers along with family and state leaders, honored 8 state patrol troopers who lost their lives while serving the community.

Names of fallen soldiers are carved into memorials in Washington D.C. and Madison, but the memorial in Fort McCoy specifically honors Wisconsin troopers.

“This is the first memorial just for our officer,” said superintendent of Wisconsin State Patrol Academy Timothy Carnahan. “I think its fitting because every one of our officers starts off at the academy.”

The new memorial was also built as a partnership with the Wisconsin Troopers Benevolent Foundation.
