Hundreds of people packed a Catholic church in a southeastern Wisconsin city to mourn the death of a Purdue University student who was killed in a campus classroom last week.

University President Mitch Daniels and fellow engineering students traveled from West Lafayette, Ind., for the funeral of Andrew Boldt, held at St. Francis Cabrini in West Bend Tuesday night.

Daniels says that as he learned more about Boldt and his family he realized “America doesn’t have any finer people.”

Teachers and friends from Boldt’s former school, Marquette University High in Milwaukee, were among the mourners. WISN-TV reports Marquette’s president, Rev. Warren Sazama, urged those dealing with Boldt’s death to come together as a community of faith in prayer.

Another Purdue engineering student, Cody Cousins, is charged with killing Boldt.
