Humane Society hosts year’s first “Community Dog Day”

Four-legged friends receive several services for free

Man’s best friends got some pampering in Sunday at the Taft Street Boys and Girls Club.

Dane County Human Society and Mounds Pet Store hosted “Community Dog Day.” Community members and their pets took advantage of the services the Human Society offers, including vaccinations and vetting exams. All services were free of charge at the event.

Gayle Viney, the Humane Society public relations coordinator, said the event helps to get the word out about what the organization has to offer pet owners and their pups.

“We want to be able to get into the community and make a connection with the pet owners, and families here, and just tell them about the services we do provide at the Humane Society and how we want to help in any way we can,” Viney said.

The free toys, beds, leashes, shots, and vet exams offered at the Community Dog Day are valued at $275, according to Viney. The first 100 pet owners to participate in the event received everything for free.
