Howard Thomas Cloute

Howard Thomas Cloute, 93, of Fort Atkinson passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Jefferson Memory Care.
Howard was born on May 20th, 1924, in Fort Atkinson to Thomas and Hazel (Curran) Cloute. He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1941 and was drafted into the US Army in January of 1942. He worked as an ammunitions specialist loading war planes, and served overseas in the Battle of the Bulge. He attained the rank of corporal and was honorably discharged after serving four years. He was united in marriage to Elaine Finn on September 16, 1950. Howard was a semi truck driver for City Transfer, Hartwig Poultry, and later worked for Krause Blacktopping, retiring in 2006 at the age of 82. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a handyman who frequently helped others with home repairs.
Howard is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Elaine, their children, Nadine Cloute, Maureen (Jeffrey) Brandenburg, Howie Cloute, Ricky (Denise) Cloute, and Sally Magiera, grandchildren, Brianne Brandenburg, Jared (fiancee Hayley Chisholm) Brandenburg, and Kelsie Magiera, a brother, Thomas (Madelon) Cloute of Arizona and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George, James, Ronald, and David, and sisters, Ellen Strohmeyer, Donna Anderson, and Loretta Martin.
A private service will take place at Dunlap Memorial Home on Friday, July 28, with burial and military services at Lakeview Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon and celebration of life at the VFW in Fort Atkinson from 12:30-4 on Friday. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to Rainbow Hospice or the Humane Society of Jefferson County.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Jefferson Memory Care and Rainbow Hospice for the kindness and wonderful care Howard and his family received in his final days.
