Highway 51 reopened after rollover crash

MADISON, Wis. — A rollover crash Saturday night closed Highway 51 on Madison’s east side for several hours, police said.

Madison police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 51 near Buckeye Road late Saturday night. One person was in the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reported Highway 51 was closed in both directions between Buckeye and Cottage Grove roads from 11:07 p.m. to 4:46 a.m. Sunday.

An initial investigation indicated the vehicle rolled over multiple times, ejecting the driver, police said.
