High school basketball team stalls, loses game 17-4
A Minnesota girls’ high school section basketball game on Tuesday night ended with an incredibly low score after the Marshall High School Tigers spent most of the time stalling, KARE-TV reported.
The Waseca High School Bluejays won the game 17-4.
The Tigers scored their first basket with 12 seconds left in the first half, and were down 9-2 at halftime, the Owatonna People’s Press reported.
Clint Link tweeted out video of the game writing, “Marshall vs Waseca why we need a shot clock.”

The video shows the crowd waving cellphones in the air while humming the “Jeopardy!” theme song while a player held the ball.
KARE-TV reported the Tigers held the ball up to eight minutes at a time without passing, dribbling or shooting.
A picture of the scoreboard in the second half showed a 9-2 score.

ESPN991.com reported Marshall head coach Dan Westby said the game plan was to slow down the game and only take open layups and three-pointers.
“I didn’t expect that,” Waseca coach Joan Conway told the Owatonna People’s Press. “I knew it could happen, but there’s never a time that you think a team will hold the ball when they’re down points.”
According to the Minnesota State High School League bylaws, a 35-second shot clock can be used during regular-season tournaments and non-conference games.
