High fire danger Wednesday across Wisconsin

Wisconsin residents need to be on the lookout for wildfires Wednesday due a combination of low humidity and high winds around the state.

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning until early evening for portions of south central Wisconsin because of the dangerous conditions.

“Red flag warnings are not common in Wisconsin, they aren’t unheard of either,” said News 3 meteorologist Haddie McLean.  “Relative humidity will be extremely low this afternoon, despite the recent rainfall.”

As temperatures climb into the 60s, the relative humidity will drop to 15-25 percent.  East/southeasterly winds will increase to 10-20 mph as well.

“Any spark could quickly grow into a wildfire with these conditions,” said McLean.
